Adoption/New Home Anxiety?

Hi, there...I am contemplating adopting a 1 1/2-year-old neutered male beagle who was left by his owner because she had to move for work and just couldn't take him. He was pampered and well taken care of and obedience trained. I have found this out from the shelter where he was relinguished after the owner tried to find a good home for him. I am concerned about possible emotional challenges (depression/unnatural attachment to a new owner/separation anxiety) that I may have to content with. He had a female owner and, as a female, that may help him. I work 8-5/Mon-Fri and can hcome ome most days for lunch but not always. Any advice or should I give this even more thought than I already have? Thanks so much...Lynne
