Hi Abby and Welcome! Yes, agility is a great sport for dog and handler, have you given it a try? You would be amazed at how quickly you and your dog would pick it up :) Also, there are things you can try in your own yard, such as, laying a ladder flat on the ground and having your dog walk through the wrungs. Laying a flat board on the ground and having him walk over it, after he gets used to that, put a small brick under the board so that is teeters slightly. Get a hula hoop and have him go through it. . .so many things you can do in your own yard. Remember to give a command and treat! Also, you can ask around and maybe join a club/group near you. They love young handlers! Good luck to you and feel free to post anytime, do you have a pic or 2 that you would like to share?
:Hi My name is Abby! I'm new here. I'm 16yo and from the St. Louis, Missouri area. My family owns a 7yo sheltie mix that we got from the humane society as a puppy. And I think he just might be the most loved and pampered dog in the entire world! LoL. He's friendly with people but is shy around some. He is unfortunatly aggressive towards most other dogs. Probably bc we didn't socialize him enough as a pup. :( He is a good pet though. I myself am a big fan of Border Collies, Aussies, and Dobermans as well as other breeds. I love agility! I go to all the agility shows they hold around here (as a spectator). When I get older and have my own hourse (many mnay years in the future) I plan on adopting a couple rescue dogs (probably one of the breeds i listed above) and getting them ILP'd & trained for agility! Well that's all I can think to say right now, but I'm sure you'll hear back from me often. Oh! I also have a website that I just started and really isn't up and running yet. It's about pets though so as soon as all is functioning I'll post a link here. ~Abby~
