: I have never owned an Airedale, but am interestted in the breed as an agility competitor and best friend. However, I shy away after reading owners complain that they can never be let off leash, and after reading owners' comments such as, "they gave me grey hair, but they also made me love every day with them." I have a Giant Schnauzer yearling, and she gives me reasons to celebrate every day, but none for grey hairs. Can someone please chat with me about the realities of owning 'Dales? I've heard that they're stubborn as mules, then others say they are brilliant, and after working with one say, for SAR, feel like they are missing something when they next work with a Border Collie for SAR. Please inform me.
