Gwen, the rescue Akita

I found Gwen walking in the middle of a busy street on 9/30. I turned her in to the pound. No one came for her. I adopted her and are now boarding her at my vet's office as she and my Basset Hounds do not get along.
She has been spayed, brought current on all shots and has been treated for heartworm. I have contacted rescues about placement and put an ad in the paper. What else can I do for her? I do not like the thought that she will not have a forever home by Christmas.

She is a 50 pds, gray,tan,white and black girl who is VERY beautiful. I cannot destroy her and refuse to but I am getting to the point financially that I cannot cover her expenses for much longer.

And even more than that, Gwen deserves a great home. She is gentle, caring, energetic and full of fun and licks for the right person.

Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.
