behavior such as marking is something that usually coincides with the onset of puberty and eventually becomes an ingrained behavior...i wouldn't count on the neutering to solve the marking situation...neutering is usually recommended before the onset of puberty for a number of reasons...since your dog is already an adult, you will really have to watch him to make sure he leaves the incision alone after the surgery...in my experience at the vet clinic, pups did much better as far as leaving the incision alone...of course the neutering will reduce his testosterone level, but because APBT's tend to be dog-aggressive by nature, i doubt that aspect will change...and his energy level should remain the same...

best of luck on the surgery, and kudos to you for making the decision to have him neutered...
