on dogs that were spayed/neutered at our clinic and then gained weight was simply a lack of exercising them on the owner's part, too many treats, factors like that...i think it is not uncommon once a pup has started to mature and is not as energetic that the owner makes the mistake of thinking that keeping the dog active is not as important...just my two cents worth...
