What a cutie!! You really don't need full AKC or ASCA (Australian Shepherd Club of America) registration papers if you aren't going to breed your dog--and with the serious and disqualifying pattern white markings that he has, you shouldn't--you can get limited registration for performance. From the AKC website (www.akc.org) you can download the ILP registration form, and from the ASCA website you can download the LEP registration form. My Suzie is also pattern white (but even more extreme than your guy--see her herding photo in earlier post), so I never did get her full registrations, although I could have. I just got the limited performance registrations--and we compete in herding and soon will be competing in agility. We could (if we had the time and money) also compete in obedience and other AKC and ASCA venues, except for conformation. If you can get the name of the sire from your breeder, that will make it easier to prove your pup is pure bred, but if you can't that is fine--you still have to provide two or three photos (side and front)--to go with the applications.
