I adopted a Basenji puppy from a dog pound over a year ago. I was the eighth person to sign up for this dog. Lucky for me all the other prospective owners did not pass the screening process. The shelter employees know me for my rescue work with cats/kittens and knew I would provide an excellent home for him. I was concerned for the cats in the home but they assured me that the Basenji gets along well with cats. So I took a chance as I just fell in love with his worried brow look. I have named him Bullet as he runs so fast. He has truly been a challenge and tests me every day that I am boss not him. He stays outside with an Aussie mix who is his buddy about the same age. When he gets older and calms down some he will become a housepet. This is not a breed for everyone but would like to hear from others who have the privilege of being owned by this breed. I am glad I was able to rescue him as he probably would be back at the pound as many people can't cope with his antics.
