I have a 10 week old female basset puppy. We got her at 5 weeks and have crate trained her since the first day. I feel we have made absolutely no progress whatsoever. I partitioned off her crate so she'd have just enough room to lay down. I bought a book called "The New Owner's Guide to Basset Hounds." I've tried to follow the book's advice. The book says that dogs don't like to wet where they sleep. Well, this doesn't seem to phase my puppy. She soaks her bedding in the crate every night and lays in it and never even fusses. She never whines or gives any indication that she needs to go to the bathroom. We have consistently taken her outside and told her to go "potty." She will lay in our laps and pee right there without even getting up. I'm really discouraged. Can anybody tell me what to do? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
