:Hey...help me out here...I have a friend of mine who has a 4 yr. old basset hound...her name is Sunny, and my friend is wanting to breed her with another basset hound. Any ideas of where i can find other basset hound owners who are looking to breed? THANKS!
My goodness! What an expensive proposition. Has this dog been thoroughly checked medically for any of the inherent genetic diseases for Bassets? I also would hope Sunny comes from a good line of free whelpers & dogs who are good representatives of the breed.
I also hope that Sunny's human is willing to go to great lengths to protect her puppies. This means thoroughly investigating all potential owners, vet trips before placement & of course the right of first refusal I know it sounds harsh, and I'm sure Sunny is a fantastic dog in her own right, but the shelters are full of animals that well meaning people have brought into the world and then been unable to place in loving, forever homes. I have a dalmatian, and every single time we go anywhere w/Athena, scads of people come up & ask if she's ever had puppies & say how much they'd LOVE to have a puppy. Who really knows if those people are truly willing & able to care for a dog? Just my two cents worth... PHAthena
