She is deaf and has cataracts so she can't see very well. Thru the years, we have learned that a basset is very stubborn & will follow her nose no matter what! She has never wandered as far as your basset but she does like to visit the neighbourhood. By the way, her name is Susie & has been a great pet especially with the kids. We know she will not live many more years and we will miss her dearly.
