Sounds like a problem. You see most people are against letting dogs on the furniture or bed, and that is why. A dog considers this a high place for the alpha dog to sit, you allow him to sit there at his will I assume, and he has decided He will stay there and go whenever he pleases. With dominant dogs, or any dog really, if you choose to let them on the furniture you should always make them do a trick to get on, and to leave at your command. You see the dog has to understand that you decide when he can sit there, and that he is always seconed to you. Being that he is already 2, its late for that, but not impossible. Does he do this with food also? If he does do the same for meals. Feed him AFTER you eat dinner(alpha eats first), and don't ever feed him from the table(give him scraps in his dish). When you feed him, have him earn his food with a trick and then give it to him. While he is eating you should be able to put your hand in his bowl and pet him as he eats. If he growls or snaps at you, you need to let him know that is not acceptable and take his food away, wait a few moments and feed him again, after he does a trick. Your dog needs to learn he is at the low end of the totempole in your house, especially b/c you have a baby. A dog who is dominant will try to dominate smaller, weaker members of the pack (Ie your baby) you MUST teach him that the baby is above him, as a human and he is to love and protect her. Now I could go on forever, but I will leave you with that, please write back with any and all questions you still have. I hope that helped!
