It could be a medical problem, but from my experience it sounds like a clear case of dominance. I do not think this was such a drastic change, was it? Of course bringing a baby to the home is a big factor in that. In my traiing I have noticed that owners of dogs like Labradors for example automatically trun to illness or something else b/c they just can't imagine their dog having an aggression problem. What they don't realize is, all dogs share the same instincts, and any breed is capable of aggression problems of some type. It does nto make them a bad dog, they just were not trained entirely correctly. I say this as they were not trained to establish pack order to avoid such aggression. If you start from the beginning and train carefully, a dog breed that to many is known to be aggressive can and will turn out to be a wonderful loving sweet dog, and I have many dogs to prove that. : ) Now it is not too late, however. I have trained dogs who wouldn't even come near people to live in a family setting, but it takes alot of work. Anyway, just wanted to add that, hope to hear from you!
