Just make sure that you're out there with her. Figure that a dog, brainpower wise, is roughly equivalent to a 2-3 year old child. Definately not old enough to be left unattended in a yard. Besides, playing is so much more fun for the dog if you're there to play with. I take my boys (non-beagles, but still hounds) to a local dog park where they can dig to their hearts' content and not worry about messing up the garden or anything like that. I always laugh at the people who correct their dogs for digging at the dog park... Heck in my mind, that's the place for digging.
