hi Bonnie. I have the same problem, and now that it is cold, my dog Derby won't go in the cold. I have tried to teach him to let me know when he needs to go, but he shows no outward signs. He prefers the house, and he is sneaky about it. He will go if he is on the leash, and I am more stubborn than he is, but I have to go out on a strict schedule, so i catch him. He does not tolerate a crate or any confinement, so training in general has been FRUSTRATING! Have you had any luck?
