Stumped! We have a bearded collie who's been on a BARF diet for the 1.5 years and over the last few months we've noticed his nails have become brittle, split and fallen off completely. The vet doesn't feel it's diet-related nor some type of bacterial or fungal infection. We've upped his EFAs (eg fish oil concentrate & vitamin E) but haven't noticed much of a difference (it's been over 3 months) and are going to try a calcium supplement next thinking he may not be absorbing it from his diet. Other than than his nails, energy level is good and he's eating well.
