First, unless a vet is a holistic vet and already in support of raw diets, most likely they will be against a raw diet. This is due to concerns about your dog's health and the risk from pathogenic bacteria and parasites.

I have fed raw homemade for over 17 years and have never had any health problems that could be related in any way to diet. In fact my dogs, with the exception of one who died in an accident, have all outlived their kibble-fed littermates, and lived past the usual lifespan for their breed. Of my cats who have died of anything other than an accident, all lived to at least 19 and in one case, 22. My current cats are 17 and a half and 12. My current dogs are 12, 11, 9 and a half, 4, and 3. My chow mix lived to be 15, and one of our deerhounds lived to be 12, quite a good age for the breed. Our first deerhound we switched to raw, lived to be 10 and a half - neither his parents nor any of his littermates made it past 6. So while I don't say that proves anything because there are too many uncontrolled factors and too few dogs to be meaningful, certainly what I'm doing isn't HURTING lifespan.

I don't like the commercial raw foods for anything other than VERY rare "emergency" feeding. The whole benefit to me is that the food is fresh and made in your kitchen and quality control is in your hands.

The food you mention I am not familiar with but I think you would do much better with a fresh homemade diet, even if it's cooked.

Do you have any books on raw or homemade diets?
