With a raw diet you balance over time. It is a little scary and intimidating when you first start. After feeding my hound his very first chicken wings the next morning I woke up and feared I had killed him. :o)) he was just fine.

The first two weeks I fed him by hand because he was a kibble gulper - he had to learn to chew. The next few weeks I would sit and watch him eat. I think I gave him a complex - and myself. After I was "comfortable" with him eating raw bones the bowl with the chicken backs went outside and I went inside. He's been eating raw for almost 3 years.

Pre made diets can get a bit expensive. The price depends on the size of the dog. You didn't say how big your dog was. You want to make sure if you purchase a premade diet it includes some type of ground bones. Good Luck
