Jumping is one big behavior issue that really makes some peple really nervous around new animals. I have a 4 1/2 mo boxer pup that seems to get the gist of not jumping unless we are playing that way. What I did, and still occasionally do, was pet her and talk to her while adding enough downward pressure to keep her from getting too far off the ground. In order to do this though you need to get more on her level. Not completely, but a little.
I don't have too many visitors to the house this time of year....bad cold weather, but I did have a problem with my mix dog for a while when visitors would come to visit. He has to be coaxed now to get him to jump up....even for a hug. I keep a lead by each door at all times. When someone would come to the door, I would immediately put Rascal on a lead. With the lead you can control his jumping around. At the same time..calmly say "stay down". I have not had a problem with Rascal (Lab-Rot mix) since he was about 6-7mos old.
Good luck, it's in the Boxer blood to jump. She will get the hint eventually. Try the lead or hold her while petting her. She would much rather be loved than jump anyday.
