Spaying a pregnant female is possible. The risk to the female is higher as changes to the blood vessels to the uterus make the risk of hemorrhage greater. Your dog would not show until about the 5th week of pregnancy. Have her spayed as scheduled or at the vets recommendation.
:My female puppy mini dachshund (8 months) went into her first heat about
:1 week ago and we instantly installed the "diaper" on her and seperated
:the male (17 months). Today, apparently, the female slipped her
:"protection" and the male herded her under a bed...the possiblity that
:impregnation took place is about 50%...we didn't notice immediatly and
:did not have to seperate them...but we do not know...
:We did not purchase the duo to breed, and were just waiting for the
:female to go into heat once prior to having her fixed...the male was
:going to be taken care of at the same time. The surgery is scheduled
:for the 18th of December and we are wondering if possible pregnancy
:would pose a problem. Also, do we need to keep them seperated...
:I am wondering what signs I should look for, as to a possible pregnancy,
:and we will continue to keep her covered in case...
:Thank you for your time and attention...
