: I recently got a puppy that is half chesapeke bay retriever and half boxer. I am guilty of getting her on impulse without researching either breed. Are these dogs known to be gentle and easily trainable? She is weeks old and is full of herself but seems very smart. Thanks...

You should do research on both breeds, but there may very well be other breeds in there also. Most cross breeds end up with the positive parts of whatever each breed has. And the 2 breeds may very well balance each other. No doubt the dog is smart! Most mixed breeds are! From what I know of these breeds, you should have a pretty gentle dog, with quite a bit of energy, but possibly not as protective as some other breeds. But, don't forget that how the dog is handled is crucial in the outcome. Obedience training (basic) is a very valuable tool in not only training your dog the simple commands, but in learning to understand the dog and developing a positive relationship with
him/her. Good Luck!
