I can say that the only thing that you may regret about a chessi is not getting one at all. up until 2 months ago we had a lab and our chessi. The lab was 13 years old and due to some health problems we had to have him put to sleep.it was a very sad and upsetting time for our family but we still had our chessi ( he acted different for about 2weeks after we lost the other dog) Some people have said that chesapeke bay ret. are one man dogs and are aggresive towards other people and dogs but this couldnt be farther from the truth in my opinion. They are a very social and loyal member of the family. They love water and mud and will run all day long.If you have never seen a Chessi smile you are in for a treat they dont do it for everybody but the firs time you see it you wont know if they are snarling or not. They curl there upper lip up above there upper teeth and there tail will be going a hundered miles an hour. When one of them do this to you, you will know you have a friend for life.
