Males reach puberty at the first sign of hiking the leg. They are usually not completely fertile until 10 months of age. A female can be bred at her second heat wich is usually around 15 months. Do not breed a Chihuahua unless you can withstand the loss of your female. Chihuahuas are known for dying during pregnancy, whelping etc. They are prone to eclampsia, retained placentas etc. Study the AKC standard for the chihuahua and make sure that the dogs you wish to breed are up to the standard. Breeding inferior dogs will only hurt the breed as a whole in the long run.
:I just got my baby, Riley. He's a little over 12 weeks now. He's the first puppy I've ever gotten and I am wondering about hold old Chi's usually are before they are bred?
