All paws crossed in prayer here for Boomer. Bloat is a scary thing. Keep us posted.

: Everyone please say a prayer for our Chow boy Boomer. Those from the AOL Chow board may remember when I rescued him and Roxie last fall.
: His abdomen swelled around 6 p.m. We raced him to the vet and they agreed it was likely bloat. An x-ray revealed the stomach was not full of gas and the spleen was not visible. He tapped the abdomen thinking perhaps the spleen
:had ruptured but got no blood (good sign.) We left him there with permission to do an abdominal exploratory.
: After we left, they did another x-ray and the second one showed it was now gas in the stomach and it was definitely bloat. He is going into surgery right now. The vet will be trying to stomach tube him to decompress the stomach. If he can't, they will be opening him up and decompressing the stomach and doing a stomach tack while they are in there.
