My dog is Depressed...

My cocker spaniel's second birthday is coming and we decided to mate him. Well, he stayed over at the girl dog's house for 3 days and loved every moment with her. When he came back home, we noticed he was very very different. He doesn't want to play, and won't look at us. If you let him out to do his business, he takes off all around the neighborhood as if he's looking for her. We've been pampering him and giving him all our attention, but he still waits by the door and cries. Will this ever go away??
