: I don't know where you live or what you consider hot (I can't figure the Celsius temps) but it sounds to me, given the time of year that your dog is just shedding. You did notice it before- about 5 months before- which would make sense. As long as there aren't any patches of missing fur or open, irritated spots on your dog's skin then it's a natural occurance. About twice a year dogs (and many other fur bearing animals) will shed the old coat of fur which has been replaced by new fur. It happens to people, too, but not as often and most of us don't even notice. You should get a brush designed for dog grooming and brush him all over- including his legs. You'll be amazed at how much fur comes out and it doesn't look like the dog is going bald. You should do this on a regular basis-
: like once a month or so. I would also look for another vet!!! He soaked you for whatever it cost to give your dog 2 shots that he didn't need! This is NOT uncommon I'm sorry to say! Plus, cortisone can be very detrimental to a dog's health in the long run as it has some nasty side effects and should NOT be given unless absolutely necessary!!!
: Personally, I've never heard of a "dandruff infection" in dogs or humans. So do your dog a favor and find another vet that doesn't prey on people that do not have the experience with dogs that some of us do. I am no putting you down- on the contrary. You are to be commended for having the good sense to ask questions of people that have more experience. Asking questions is a sign of intelligence, in my opinion! What I do suggest is that you find a place that sells liquid vitamin E. Give your dog 400 IU mixed in his food every day. The package sould have instructions on how to dispense 400 IU which is the way vitamin E is given - NOT in milligrams. We can then discuss a couple of diet changes (or additions) if you would like. Please pst back so that we all know how you and your dog are making out. Thanks!
:This time around I have not called up my vet to look at her. Though I am still waiting for more time if my dog would get thinner or sick. Thanks that you have helped me out. My dog is still shedding a little fur , though they are the short ones that comes out.the vitamin E , you were telling me, can I dispense the capsule type? Is it good for the fur? I also have one question. I use the "combantrin" to de-worm my dog. this is for human consumption. Is this also good for dogs? Can it take all the worms out, or should I use an animal grade ? My friend said that he uses this type and it has worked for him up to now.
