I would like some opinions on this one. I am taking in a rescued bouvier, very gentle, not mistreated, but never properly groomed. He is matted beyond belief. I am considering having him clipped and bathed so we can start afresh with a grooming program. I have heard this suggestion from a groomer, but have heard others say it would be cruel (?!?!?) to clip him.We are in a very cold climate, but he will be an indoor dog and I can always fashion a coat for him until he gets some regrowth.
Any reason why I should NOT clip him?!?! Seems to me it would be MORE cruel to subject him to the months of grooming it will take to comb him out....if that is even possible.
thank you!
