::Hi! I'm PHMOrgan, your Board host.
::I am a dog groomer by profession, and I breed and train, and show Pointers in conformation, field events, and obedience. I hope we can learn lots together on this board.
:===
:I'm strictly part-time but have volunteered/donate free grooming service to the local SPCA for small puppies and dogs because I am physically unable to handle large breed dogs, and my grooming area is small although efficient. I own a chocolate Toy and a black Miniature Poodle. Most of what I know about clippers, scissors and techniques came from my mother [who has been a hairdresser for 40+ years] and my friend and recently retired groomer of 30+ years, her specialty was Poodles also. The Stone Guide to Dog Grooming, Poodle Clipping and Grooming and the Oster Poodle Grooming video were also helpful. I considered a dog grooming school but there are none locally (New York State) and the South Carolina School of Dog Grooming closed it's Myrtle Beach school (my mother lives in MB). I would consider a correspondence course, but afraid it would be a waste of money.
:Hope more groomers join the forum. I'm always interested in products and tools of the trade.
