I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction for information about how to treat and how to avoid hot spots. My 1 yr old long-haired GSD has had a few pop up on his hind quarters. He has a very thick undercoat, and I guess that covered the sore spot until it got so bad that now he has a patch of missing hair about the size of a quarter. Poor buddy... Anyway, the vet says he might be alergic to something, but right now we are treating the symptoms, and not the cause. I feel so bad that I didn't catch this sooner. He must have been so miserable :-{ Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
