...you didn't mention how old your new pet was? If it's a very young pup, it still needs attention, but it might just be like younger human children and it's something that just happens. Yet, I'm a bit concerned with how you described how the pup "just went back to sleep." I know if I wake up my dog she doesn't just fall back to sleep. Call the vet and insist on a morning appointment. If you can bring in a urine sample with you, that would probably help get the test started. Keep us posted.
