In Reply to: Update on Black Jack & OCD lesion... posted by CLH on February 25, 2003 at 08:51:38:
I am so excited. Black Jack got to come home today from the hospital. He is doing great!! He's not limping or anything. Black Jack acts as if he hasn't had surgery at all. I do have one question though. The vet has put him on 75mg Rimadyl tabs for a month. He takes two of these a day. The vets told me that they are to help the shoulder he had the surgery on (he had an OCD lesion in his right shoulder)and they are also to help his left shoulder which he also has OCD in but there is no lesion (surgery was not required for the left shoulder). Can someone educate me on this medication and tell me what you think about it? Thanks so much!!

:Hi all. I just wanted to share with ya'll our visit to the University of Florida vet medicine teaching hospital. I took Black Jack for a second opinion about his OCD lesion. The hospital there is awesome and the students and vets are great. The vet agreed with the OCD lesion diagnosis and said that they had an opening for surgery today, so I left Black Jack down in Gainsville, FL yesterday. The problem was, I wasn't planning on leaving him and I hadn't prepared myself for it and the whole time we were there I was promising Black Jack that I wasn't leaving him...Well, I just felt awful when I had to leave him there. I cried and cried, I just wasn't ready for this yet, I guess. So, anyway, I just wanted to share with you all, and ask for your thoughts and prayers. I hope to be able to pick him up either Saturday or Monday. A senior student will be calling me at least twice a day to let me know how Black Jack is doing. We live in Valdosta, GA so I'm about a hour and forty minutes away from him. Wish us the best!! Thanks!!
