Hi Christie,
I'm so sorry I haven't posted on the results from Wednesday's visit. As a matter of fact, I just read your reply. So, here's the scoop, NO a allergy test was not done!! Saved a few $$ but not much.
He conculded it is a Pyoderma infection of the skin. (staph infection? i take it) Bj was placed on 500 mg 2x's daily of Cephalexin, 10 days of 1 1/2 mg of Predmsone. Also, no mites found in scaping again, but 3 doses of Ivermec, one now and in
2 wks, then 2 wks.again. So, 30 days we should know more.
My question is, can a FULL panel (thyroid) be done while doing treatment? I haven't called the vet otherwise I would know this answer. My plans are to schedule an appointment next week with my prior vet to have the test done. Over 5 months of this mess with Bj and she (present vet)couldn't tell there was something more than allergies going on? (allergies have not been ruled out) My fault for not taking him to the dermatologist, but $$ played a major factor in it. The money saved on dog food, paid for this vist on Wednesday. Raw is still working well for Bj, but I have added "dog treats" for training. Shame on me. I do want to thank you for all your help. The info given has been very useful. Hugs & kisses from Bj.
