I have a 2 year old Golden Retriever that is suffering form Renal/Kidney failure. She was diagnosed 1 1/2 years ago and her blood levels have been getting increasingly worse. As of 12/05/2002 her BUN level is at 69 (normal is 6-29) and her Creatinine level is at 2.9 (normail is 0.6-1.6) I would like to ask Dr. Susan Wynn what kinds of herbal and holistic opitons are available for a dog with kidney failure. She is currently on a special diet (GD Hill prescription dog food for kidney failure.) My vet recommended the Chinese herb Rehmannia 8 after going to one of Dr. Wynn's conferences. I have also heard that Fish oils, B-complex, Antioxidant vitamins, and chinese herb Renagen might be of help to level off her steady decline. I am desparate to save my dog, and willing to try anything. I should also tell you that her liver levels are high as well. I assume this might be in relation to her kidney failure. Her Alkaline Phosphates level is at 241 and her ALT is at 174. What can I do to save her, or prolong her life? Thank you for any wisdom at all.
