You know, I'd do two things.

One, I'd get referred to an oncologist for a consultation and comprehensive diagnosis. Then I'd make an appointment to talk to a holistic vet who works with cancer patients. This is not at all the kind of condition you can treat at home with supplements or herbs or diet (although those things can definitely help!). It requires a partnership, a team approach, that includes skilled experts.

You can go to an oncologist and tell them that you only want to consult, and that you'll make a treatment decision at home and get back to them. It's very hard to say "no" to an expert, and you might feel pressured into diagnostic procedures or treatments you aren't sure you want for your dog. Just be clear when you go in that you want INFORMATION so you can decide what to do.

But don't go through this with a general practice vet and help from the Internet. Find a holistic vet who can offer you his or her expertise, an oncologist who can lay out your options clearly, and of course, work with your own vet too.

I wish you all the best and wish I could tell you there is some magic solution - I know what it is to long for one!

Warmly,

:I am trying to get some holistic help for my boxer,he just turned seven years old.He has a mass in his lungs that is slightly larger than a golf ball.He had started out with an infection with his skin that cleared up with ATB's,the cough started around the same time, this was September of last year. The cough was sporadic at first, but the beginning of the year it has become frequent. He was put on Delta Alblex which stopped the cough completely, but retured even worse as soon as the course of ATB's were finished.Within three days after the last dosage of Delta A,he was rushed to the vet with a 103* temperature and a loud, raspy cough. He was coughing up phlegm continuously, and having difficulty breathing. With a shot of ATB's that night,he was better the following day.The x-rays were taken which showed the mass, and a slightly enlarged heart.Blood tests were completely normal. We cannot get a definite diagnosis of the mass without taking him to the university for surgery, which is complicated by his heart. He was put back on the Delta Alblex and the coughing has once again subsided.
:The vet is thinking this is most likely cancer,as he thinks there may be other suspicious looking activity with the lymphnodes. This is not for sure, just from the looks of the x-ray there could be the start of a problem. If it's lymphoma, the vet is thinking the Delta A is suppressing it for a short time, and when it can no longer suppress it,the cancer will come on very aggressive.
:I have put my boxer on vitamin supplements,DogBloom Supreme, and also extra vitamin c.He eats Authority dry food from PetsMart.
:The outlook for him is very guarded, but I have been encouraged by friends to try a holistic approach. My vet is great, but,of course,is not confident at all in holistic medicine.
:Is there anything that I can do for him holistically? I am not too sure about getting the surgery done on this mass to confirm anything. It is an extreme risk for him,and I do not know if it will be worth it? Is there any holistic way to fight cancer if that's what we're dealing with?
:I appreciate any help at all.

:Thank you,
