I've posted some comments over the past several weeks in the GSD forum but I noticed back on 1/10 below someone else is experiencing this condition. My GSD, Cesar, is nine years old this year. I've noticed in the past 6 months or so that his back legs has been droping slightly and one leg drags just a bit. My first thought was is hips so I brought him to the vet. They took xrays and told me that his hips are in very good condition. It was his back that was the problem. She said that he was in no pain and that there was nothing more they could do. I asked the vet if I should change his diet, give him vitamines etc but she said nothing will improve this condition. Cesar is 98 lbs and still very energetic. He loves his walks and plays like he's a puppy (we have lots of snow right now and he loves it) Now I keep on worrying that something will snap or he'll completely lose feeling if I'm not careful with him. The vet said to continue with the excersis but don't allow him to jump. One more thing and I apologize if I'm getting to wordy! The vet also noticed that he has been exibiting Cronic Anal Licking! UGG She perscribed Prednisone which he's been on since 1/16, 4 a day. I also had to apply a creme which was not cheap. Any ways, the vet was very happy to see a huge improvement in that area. The vet told me to cut his portion down to 1/2 pill a day. He's been super hyper, drinks alot, seems like he's hungry all the time, pees alot and not even a Kong toy will last long! SO, besides his back condition I was very worried about him being on steriods. Cesar goes for his check up early March. Any questions I should ask?
