Is there no one out there with Labs, setters, wolfhounds, gazehounds?
I live by the Chesapeake Bay and there are a myriad of hunting and field dogs here. People hunt deer (for meat) and the Canadian Geese who migrate here (and their cousins who stay around all the time and drive the golf-course people crazy), fish, etc. They do things that drive me crazy -- like have their dogs loose in the back of their pickups or chaining them outside all the time except when working, but....live and let live. Amazingly I haven't read of an accident involving a dog around here...and there are plenty of accidents that are alcohol related. Some really lovely working-lines Labs here. Big broad heads with lots of brains and powerful bodies. MY lab, who is so obviously NOT from working lines, is a water wimp. :(
