Hi Labcoatgal. I noticed that my Lab had stopped increasing in size around the age of twelve months (she was almost a year old when I got her, though). I have heard that the old adage of "one human year equals seven dog years" is obsolete and can be fallacious. I think that the determination of age can be contingent on health, size, and breed. According to a converter I found at http://www.urbanhound.com/houndHealth/ my dog who is between 50-90 lbs. and almost four years old (I'm not absolutely certain about this, though, since I adopted her from the pound), she is about thirty-five years old in human years (older than me!). However, I cannot vouch for the hard scientific data that went into the development of this converter. I'll ask my boss about this when I go into work today (I work in a dog daycare center). She has a degree in veterinary science and canine ethology, so she'll probably be able to shed some light on this. As far as developmental maturity is concerned, I'm pretty convinced that Labs don't ever grow up—they seem to be addicted to playing 'til the day they die! lol
