My parents have a 10 year old salt and pepper mini schnauzer. Recently, they adopted a cat who stays in the garage, while Chelsea, the dog, maintains indoor/outdoor privelages.
There are two problems: a) Chelsea is so high strung and anxious- she stares at the cat incessantly and bites at him whenever she gets the chance. Her feet and beard have even turned an orange/peach color that is very noticeable.
Could this be due to stress? Or the glucosamine supplement they give her? (Its a brown, root beer flavored liquid) My Dad is beside himself, thinking Chelsea may be very ill.
b) How can this strained relationship between Chelsea and the cat improve? Chelsea literally stares and shakes for hours on end. The cat is very relaxed and doesn't react badly towards the dog at all. I'm about to suggest they search for prozac or some other medication to calm her down. Please help!
