Are you certain that your dog does not have fleas? If the vet has not done some skin scrapings of the irritated site, that would be a good idea, too. Food CAN make a difference, but not as often as dog food companies like to claim. Dogs also get seasonal allergies, much like hayfever in humans, only the symptoms manifest themselves on the skin. I have one dog for whom the cold, dry weather is all it takes. She is fine as long as the temperature is mild. Good luck!
