I have ruled out the weather as the cause of his licking one area all the time as he had a raw spot when I adopted him in May. That was on a hindleg. It finally healed over the summer, but he started a new spot on a front leg when we started obedience training in the fall. My gut level hunch is that it is compulsive licking, but I will check a skin scraping if this continues after a fair trial on Innova. Baron is a nervous dog and always has been. I don't think he has fleas as I have not seen any and he is combed fairly often. With his blonde hair, a flea should stand out or there should be flea debris in the comb. Interestingly, my other dog, Cleo, has pretty much stopped scratching since I started them on the Innova. Actually, both of them have pretty much stopped scratching, and Baron's hair, which is fine anyway, has pretty much lost the static cling effect. Honestly, I wondered if they both had fleas for a while since they were both scratching, but I think part of it was winter dry skin and their diet. I know they love the taste of the Innova. Now, if they would both get jobs to help pay for it. :-)

:Are you certain that your dog does not have fleas? If the vet has not done some skin scrapings of the irritated site, that would be a good idea, too. Food CAN make a difference, but not as often as dog food companies like to claim. Dogs also get seasonal allergies, much like hayfever in humans, only the symptoms manifest themselves on the skin. I have one dog for whom the cold, dry weather is all it takes. She is fine as long as the temperature is mild. Good luck!
