:::Don't listen to the scare tactics some use about grains and perservatives like BHT. There is no problem with either one, most of the so-called "good" foods are just marketing ploys to charge much more money.
:::If your dog likes the food and is doing well, stick with it.

:
::If grains work for your dog, go for it. However, all i am saying is that not all dogs do. I worked for a vet and saw many itchy, hairless, smelly, dogs (with what turned out to be grain allergies) being fed science diet and other grain fed based foods because people thought it was the best choice.
::

:I wouldn't call it scare tactics or a marketing ploy I would call it educating yourself on what what your feeding your dog. BHA/BHT ARE synthetic preservatives and they are found in some dog foods. Grains are nothing but a cheaf fillers which means more $$ for the "big" commercial dog food companies. Don't even get me started on those moist handy single serving sized packet of dog foods. Those are close to being radioactive. There are some scary thing in those. I'm not making this stuff up.

:Next time your at the vet pick up a bag of the special Science Diet you can only buy from the vet you'll find BHA/BHT in the list of ingredients with ground corn is the first ingredient. This is the food they are giving to a dog with skin problems...doesn't make much sense does it.

:Angel is correct there are a lot of dogs out there with skin problems caused by grains. People spend hundreds sometime thousands of dollars on vet "specialists" most of the time all they have to do is take a look at what is in their dog food. I've enclosed a couple links that might be helpful if anyone is interested. We "read labels" for ourself why not start reading labels for our dogs???

:Labcoatgal I'm not sure what country your in but your probably going to have to decide on the best available food in your area. The brands listed on my initial post are all available in the US.

:Thanks for all the suggestions and responses. I checked the ingredients list of our dog's food and neither BHA or BHT is listed. I assume that this is good. Also I have noticed that my pup eats the food voraciously, so he must be happy with it. I will take all suggestions into consideration. thanks :)
