The important thing to look at for rawhides is Made with USA hides. In the US, leather tanned or cured or otherwise treated with arsenic compounds, formaldehyde and the like are not allowed to be used to make rawhide chews. In other countries such practices are allowed. This is not as big of a problem as it sounds... even Wal-Mart carries a line of American rawhides. One place to look, if you're interested in buying them in bulk is www.petedge.com You might also check with the office manager at your vet office. He or she may be able to add a case of rawhides or greenies or whatever to their order, saving you some money. In my pack, I have found that anything more than one of the large rawhide "chips" per day causes some loose stools. Also, if your dog has a hard time keeping weight on, you will do well to find another chew. A dog doesn't get any nutrition or calories from a rawhide, but it will fill them up and may take their mind off their food. I wish you luck!
