:Every dog does well on different things. I myself am not keen on the amount of corn in Pedigree. My dogs don't do well with it. Others do just fine. As for BHA/BHT, to name a few things, Nabisco Cereal Bars, Bridgeford Beef Jerky, Virtually all brands of pepperoni, Kellogg's Cereals, and many, many human medications are preserved with BHT (Butylated Hydroxytoluene). Most of us eat it every day. No big deal, IMO. Ethoxyquin, IMO is a different story, and I would stay away from it in dog food and in human food (it's only found as a color preserver in spices such as some brands of cayenne pepper). In the US there has been a voluntary moratorium on its use in animal feed. Lastly, propylene glycol, while relatively safe, is a sweetener used in low end semi-moist food like Purina Moist and Meaty. It is added in conjunction with corn syrup. These artificially sweetened foods are the extreme of dog food empty calories and studies have even shown excess sugar to be addicting in dogs. I wish you luck with your dog!

Not meaning to beat a dead horse. I do think that different dogs do better on different things. I had a cat once that was allergic to food coloring, and threw up every time he ate any grocery store brand food, but i know many owners that feed whatever is cheapest at the grocery store and don't have problems.
I realize that there are a lot of chemicals in human food. i try to avoid those as best that i can. Just because it doesn't kill you, doesn't mean that it doesn't have longe term effects.
Which brings me to my point on dog food. In my opinion, feeding certain foods might have long term effects (at least on some dogs),which i suppose is a risk you take with any food. I just try to stay as informed about foods as i can. I use to "upgrade" (in my opinion) kibbles alot, until i settled on raw feeding which seems to suit my dog well. Just my opinion.
