Your story reminded me of my chow/Aussie mix, Colleen, who went to the Bridge on December 18 of last year.

One time, I was working basic obedience out in the front yard with my cattle dog mix, Scarlett. My mom came to the front door and said that I should come in and see something. I came in and she said that Colleen had been sitting in front of the French doors in the kitchen, watching me training Scarlett, and obeying every command I gave to Scarlett! If I said to Scarlett "Sit," Colleen would sit.

Sigh, I miss her... thank you for sharing your photo, it really brought back that wonderful memory!
