:I was wondering if anyone has any ideas or suggestions as to what is going on with my shih tzu, Maggie.
:She is two years old. She is a pure bred, but not show quality (and I don't love her any less because of that...she's still PERFECT to us).
:Anyway...she goes to the groomer once every six months or so. The second last time she went, he cut her coat very short.
:From that time on, she has been getting little spots, that become infected, down her back. Basically following her spine. They started at the base of her tail, and are now turning up here and there further up her back toward her neck.
:She usually only gets one at a time. She's not covered in these sores. The sores are slightly smaller than an eraser on the end of a pencil in diameter.
:They drain, and then heal, but leave black oily type flecks near her skin. She is in over all good health, she is very playful and social. She still loves being petted and brushed along her back.
:She has no fleas, or ticks.
:I've heard others say that shih-tzus are prone to skin problems, but I don't know any other shih-tzu OWNERS...just people that like to cast their opinion about, without any real experience in the area.
:Any ideas, or experience with this type of thing?
:Thanks....

My first suggestion would be to see your vet. Sounds like a professional opinion is needed in this case rather than owners opinions or suggestions.
