:How many of you would be interested if shows offered an "Altered Dog" class for competition?
I see no problem with it, but shows historically have been to promote breeding stock.
I think it would be a good incentive if someone purchases a well put together animal as pet, spay/neuters then thinks, hey, I'd like to try that. I have a girl in a pet home who I tried to talk her mom into letting me take her back in breed ring when she became a veteran due to S/N thing, but her mom is happy with a fat happy RETIRED show dog. I still sigh every time I see her, gorgeous, just not breed worthy IMHO due to animal aggression. I can think of few instances where pet people became interested in breed ring. Seems most don't wanna hassel all that hoopla.
In ESS field trials, some judges will not place a S/N dog even though it's acceptable to compete for CH points. That said, it may seem best bet if ever permissable in breed ring, to be a non-reg class. I can imagine some peoples comments if their future breeding stock were dumped over a S/N animal for points. The fur would fly!
