:Daisy is just over two years old. Everytime someone new comes in she looks sheepish and urinates where ever she is, usually on my settee.
:Does anyone know why she does this and how to cure it????>>>>
This sounds like submissive urination. The first thing to do is have her thoroughly checked for urinary tract infection or vagitinitis that could be making it more difficult for her to hold her urine.
It helps to build the dog's confidence through positive training. Also helps to get guests to completely ignore her when they first come in. Other things to do are have them greet her outdoors, take her outside to urinate just as guests arrive, develop a new routine such as throwing a ball for her to switch her into another gear, and being very careful to use no harsh methods in dealing with her.
