Ideally I would take one away from the house and leave the other at home, then switch and take the other and leave the first one at home, every day. The length of time should be long enough for the dog to have a good time with you, but more than an hour could be too long. A half hour for each dog should do it.

They both need to get used to crates--separate crates--so that as adolescent dogs starting to chew everything in the house, they will be able to rest calmly in crates. But getting used to crates can happen in their crates in your bedroom at night.
