...Knowing what to feed your dog is a tough decision. I know, I just went through a whole debate myself on this very issue. If you go with the very sound advice of "read the label," you are still very confused. That's why the RAW diets are so appealing to me and many others. You know exactly what your dog is eating. I haven't made the switch to RAW yet because I have a toddler in the house and although I know how to handle raw meat, I really don't want to risk making a mistake. Also, my gilr tends to food guard more when the food is that good. I can't risk that accident. So, for now, we are waiting. I choose the kibble for her based on a few things- a) in the first 10 ingredients on the list was there anything I was confused by? If the answer was "yes" I'd pass it by (there are brands that can pass this test, but normally not in the grocery store). b) I also chose to leave corn and wheat out of my dog's diet, mostly because her country of oragin would not have had them. c) Are "generic terms" like poultry or meat used? Pass those by since those brands quality control is so poor they don't know what's going into their product. Narrowing it down this way helped me. Maybe it can help you.
