:Thanks Chelle, Mutz, Nancy and Reena. I am indebted to you for all of the help you have given me. I feel a bit overwhelmed by all of the new things to think about concerning feeding our dog. But I am so glad that you took the time to share your experience, thoughts and feelings with me. That was very good of you.

:I had made a distinction in my mind between “field treats” and the treats we give our dog around the house. I thought to use some of the new and different things you suggested every time we go for a walk or run and continue to use packaged little biscuits in the house. In a store today I picked up a package of the “bones” we have been using and then looked at every other brand of biscuits/bones. The first ingredient in each of them was Wheat. So I did not get any. This afternoon I will be at a place called “Pet Food Warehouse.” I assume they will have better choices. If not, I will eliminate store-bought treats and begin using only good things that you have suggested.

:I did not find Kong toys locally so I have ordered a Kong toy and a Kong ball (as well as a silent whistle) from a pet supply company on the internet. I feel sure that our dog will enjoy the toys with treats added to them

: I still have a lot to learn, but thanks to you I am heading in the right direction. Thank you very much for your help.

You're thinkng it all over and weighing out the positive and negative for both you and your dog. It has been food for thought! Who could ask for more? Best wishes and keep us posted. Nancy
